Happy Wife, Happy Life

The keys to domestic bliss may include commitment, compromise, and communication, but if you want to keep this little wife really happy it’s the little things that I suggest!

I could easily give you a list of things NOT to do, but that’s just common sense. So, my dear husband, instead I thought I would just give you a list of the to do’s that will make me a happy little wife.

-Please pick your laundry up off the bathroom floor.

-Speaking of the bathroom….the last thing I want to come home to, at the end of a busy shift (with a full bladder) is the toilet seat up and an empty toilet paper roll. Very. Frustrating.

- Take the garbage out. There should not be bad odors in the same room that I prepare our meals. Seriously.

-Write your gorgeous wife a love letter once in a while. Texts and e-mails are totally appreciated, but not nearly as romantic.

-Kiss me hello and goodbye every time you see me! Every. Single. Time. You know, like you used to.

-Turn the television off, sometimes. I gladly appreciate the Jets, Yankees, & Gators but, I think our TV needs some rest every now and then. Just sayin.

-Remember that Golf may be fun, but those clubs won’t keep you warm at night.

-And sometimes take a turn being the bad guy with the kids.

Sigh….. It’s been almost 12 years so you must be doing something right…but it’s the little things that will get us through the next 50 years.

Love Ya!

FireDad

This post is dedicated to my hubby. Michael worked super hard to finish five years of college while being married and having a baby. Life was a struggle in the beginning. My parents, being the best anyone could ask for, helped me by being Sydney's caretakers while I worked long hours and Michael went to college. We were all so proud of him when he graduated and became an architect. He did what he could so that I could be a stay-at-home mom while he worked. But, after 10 years in this profession, the economy was against him, he was layed off, and the hunt for a new job was a difficult one. For every architect position, if there was one, there were at least ten people applying for it. After a few months of searching, he had to make a decision about his career. He had to weigh the pros and cons of going back to school or settling for an unwanted job. I am glad that he isn't one of those people who looks for salary versus happiness. He is the type of man who wants a good career but also one that is rewarding and still allows him to be while home with his family. He doesn't sacrifice family time for money, no salary can beat that.
He always thought about fire school but getting into a fire academy is not easy. You have to pass a series of tests, health screenings, and interviews just to be considered for the one and ONLY fire academy in this area. Not to mention the long line of applicants.

I believe that everything happens for a reason, especially when the thick envelope arrived in the mailbox congratulating him with the acceptance to the fire academy.

He is our hero. The kids are so proud of their father, we all are.

You Are More Than a Father

My dad is the best!
He is the kind of dad who will spend his only free day of the entire week with his kids and grandchildren and do for them before himself. My kids absolutely LOVE their Papi, because it is very hard not to!
My favorite childhood memories with my dad are those of all day fishing trips, learning to drive, his funny laugh, and his poker face. Growing up, I remember his love of Country music (to this day when I hear Roll On Eighteen Wheeler by Alabama or The Gambler by Kenny Rogers, I think of him).
I know that if I ever need ANYTHING or just need someone to talk to, he will always be there. I learned from him to be a giver rather than a receiver, to be a good parent, and to love with all I’ve got! I am blessed to have a great father who is more than just my dad, he is my friend. Happy Father's Day, Daddy. I Love You!

My hubby is a great father. He spends his days helping me around the house and making sure the kids are entertained (while I sleep). He will even take them to the park and the movies when he is feeling really tired. He makes sure they're safe, sound and happy, and never wanting for anything but is strict when it's needed, and is always there for us.
He also takes the time to sit with me, even if it means watching some of my favorite tv shows or chick flick just to be with me. He is my vent-to person, mostly because he is ALWAYS around. He makes me coffee every morning, helps me with household chores, and makes me feel better on bad days.
He's a wonderful dad and a wonderful friend, and I love him a lot.
Happy Father's Day, Honey! We Love You!
